Financial Support

Check out our Christmas Catalogue, a great gift-giving idea for those who have everything!

Bissell Centre relies on the generosity of community members to make a difference in the lives of people living in poverty. If caring people didn’t donate their money, items and time to the Centre, the future of many Edmontonians – adults and children alike – would be very bleak, indeed.

Bissell Centre does receive some core funding from other agencies, but this is not enough to meet the needs of the many people who come through our doors every day.

About 35% of Bissell Centre's funding is supplied by core funders including:

  • Family and Community Support Services
  • United Way Alberta Capital Region
  • United Church

In addition, Employment Services, Mental Health Services and FASD Prevention are funded by the Federal and Provincial Governments. Several foundations also grant us a percentage of our income.

In reality though, much of the Centre’s funding comes directly from donations by private individuals and companies. Community members also donate the majority of our program supplies, food, and donations to Bissell's Thrift Shoppe.

We need your help!
